BSc Horticulture is a 4 year-long undergraduate degree course. Horticulture is the art or practice of growing plants for purposes of food, beauty, comfort, and source materials. which deals with the science of breeding vegetables, cereals, fruits, orchids, and other plants. It also deals with subjects like product marketing, farming management, pest control, and many other related topics in detail.
The certified degree in B.Sc Horticulture for aspirants to find job opportunities in horticulture therapist, interior plant technician, floriculturist, ornamental horticulturist. The main aim of horticulturists is to improve plant growth, quality, nutritional value, yield, and resistance to insects, diseases, and environmental stresses.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates must complete 10+2 in Science background with Biology as a compulsory subject to be eligible for BSc Horticulture Science course. The minimum required percentage varies from college to college, but the candidates must score above 50% aggregate marks in class 12 boards. The age required is 17 - 25 years. Aspirants must have the subjects of study as compulsory in 10+2 physics, biology, and chemistry.
The admission to the BSc Horticulture course is either merit-based or entrance-based. Some of the universities grant admission through state-level or university-level entrance exams. There is no such national-level entrance exam for this course.

There are ample opportunities and career paths in the horticulture field. Several options are available for graduates of horticulture. For example, genetic engineering has advanced horticultural technology and made it possible to grow better produce and in places where they would not grow before. This gives rise to a whole industry related to export and research.
Horticulturists can work in research, in actively growing genetically engineered plants and caring for them, in lab trials and experiments, etc. Jobs are available in the private sector and the public sector. In the Government sector in India, B.Sc. Horticulture graduates can be appointed as officers in the State Forestry Departments, State Agriculture Departments.
